His actions shattered the timeline and unleashed cosmic darkness, evil entities, and destructive forces into the universe for the very first time. Before this event, the universe was completely peaceful and pure.
This incident also caused reality itself to split into multiple universes, which later became known as the multiverse or parallel universes.
Before the experiment, Krona was respected among the Maltusians — the original species of the Guardians. But after the disaster, the Guardians took responsibility for the mistake and decided it was their duty to protect the universe from the evil forces that had entered it.
The surviving Maltusians moved to the center of the universe and rebuilt their civilization on planet named Oa. Over time, they renamed themselves the “Guardians of the Universe.”
Due to adaptation and the unique environment of their new world, their appearance gradually changed. They became shorter, their hair turned white, and they evolved into the Guardians we know today.
As for Krona, the Guardians punished him severely. They stripped away his physical body and transformed him into a form of pure cosmic energy, forcing him to wander through space as eternal punishment.

After this, the Manhunters turned against their own creators, leading to a massive and dangerous war.
In the end, the Guardians defeated the Androids and exiled them into deep space.
But the Manhunters did not remain inactive for long.
Secretly, they built their own society, where they gradually upgraded themselves and even learned to absorb Green Lantern energy.
Eventually, they became one of the greatest threats in the galaxy and repeatedly attacked the Guardians, blaming them for replacing the Manhunters with living Lanterns.
The Emotional Spectrum Explained
After the failure of the Manhunters, the Guardians realized they needed a new weapon.
For this, they traveled to core of planet Oa, where they captured and stabilized the green energy of the Emotional Spectrum.

The answer is that exactly 7,200 Green Lantern Rings remain active across the universe at any given time.
The Guardians divided the universe into 3,600 sectors, with each sector protected by two Lanterns.
Earth belongs to Sector 2814, a region constantly threatened by dangerous alien forces.
Because of this, the Guardians assigned multiple humans to serve as Green Lanterns so they could better defend the sector against powerful threats.
